The work of de Beauvoir expresses the trauma of being unable to reach the Absolute by an introverted individual, breaking with the image of the writer as an eternal optimist, whose life was filled with pleasures and journeys. Considering her individualism, this article will take an interdisciplinary view at the contrast between the desire for existence and its absence, the search for identity and the dialectic of existentialism.
